Fire Extinguishers
- Most fires start small enough to be put out with a fire extinguisher.
- The type required for your business is determined by the type of business and the building materials.
- Mount extinguishers properly and keep them clear from any obstructions. Place them where people are most likely to travel, having them accessible without walking more than 75 feet.
- Remember P.A.S.S. for proper operation.
- Always make sure emergency services have been called prior to using an extinguisher to prevent delays in response if the fire extinguisher does not put the fire out.
- If you are unable to put the fire out with one extinguisher, leave and close the door to slow the spread of heat and smoke.
P.A.S.S.
